House on the Rock

Welcome!

September 17-18, 1999

This was the first "annual" family vacation that we took! The Cave of the Mounds and the House on the Rock are both located in Wisconsin, about 2 hours west of our house. We drove up on a Friday night after picking up Jim and his girlfriend at college for the weekend. We stayed in a hotel suite for two nights and had a lot of fun touring the sights and relaxing in the pool at the hotel.

The cave was really cool (literally) as we toured in the dark to see all the stalagmites and stalactites! We took some pictures, but they just do not do the sights any justice. THE HOUSE ON THE ROCK

The House on the Rock is a fun place for kids and adults alike to visit. It is a home that they turned into a museum of every imaginable item to collect! Each room had a different theme. It took us all afternoon to go through it, and I am sure that we missed some things along they way. Well, something to see the next time we go! Erika wanted to go back again the next year, but we decided on a different adventure. (That's another page!)
