FCC is a
nondenominational organization of families who have adopted children from
China. The purpose of FCC is to provide a network of support for families
who've adopted in China and to provide information to prospective parents.
The purpose of this site is to consolidate the information that has been
put together by the families of FCC, in order to make it easier for future
parents to consider adopting from China. We also try to provide pointers
to other adoption and China related resources available on the Web.

We joined the
MA-FCC
on 1/21/01. Attending our first MA-FCC event was a
very big step for us to see the reality of all the Chinese children that have
been adopted in the Milwaukee area. We have enjoyed talking with the families
that have traveled, and some couples like us that are in waiting for their
referral. We have obtained some great reading material from their Library that
they share with members. One book that we highly recommend is A Passage To
The Heart. Please scroll down and enjoy the great
pictures from these events.

We attended our
3rd Chinese New Year Party...but our first with our daughter!! What a
different and fulfilling experience! It was the 2nd year at the Waukesha
Expo. There were over 600 people! The food catered from The Peony Restaurant
was fabulous! This is really an event not to be missed by the children! |

Merry
Christmas! Celebrating with the Panda this year was a lot of fun!
Although Kimmy waved to him, she would not sit on his lap. |

Happy
Halloween! This is one of the most fun events because you get to see all the
cuties dressed up in costume!! We went through the nursing home to deliver
candy to all the residents. |

This was
our first year attending the summer social event at Wirth Park's Water Park
in Brookfield. WOW...what fun! Next year we will take a waterproof camera so
we can take pictures in the water! But here are some photos of the fun we
shared with our friends the Berge's and their daughter Kailee. |

We attending
this social event at a park downtown. It was very casual (and a hot day!)
The girls had fun. |

Kimmy's
first MA-FCC Social Event!!!!! It was all about PLAYTIME! We had fun
introducing her to everyone and playing with the other children her age. The
fun part about this age is that you know that any other child her age was
also newly home China! It was a fun bonding experience. |

We attended the
Chinese New Year Party that was held at the Waukesha County Expo. Kirk took
a couple of pictures as you see below. There must have been 300-400 people
in attendance. We will outgrow this facility soon!
For us, this event was
wonderful because we had our Referral pictures to show off to all the
friends that we had met and shared our journey over the last year! The
support and advise is invaluable! Since we have been going to these events
for the last year, it was wonderful to also talk with prospective adoptive
parents and parents that had just begun the process. But of course, the
children are the highlight of going to any of these events! |

Chinese to celebrate the New Year. |
This picture
(although difficult to see) shows you the children dressed up as dragons on
stage. They marched through the facility with the dragon costumes.

Well, we
attended the annual Christmas Party for the kids. And once again...I did not
have my camera! But trust me when I say...the kids are adorable and looking
forward to the holiday! We did a gift exchange. However, Santa did not
arrive, but the Panda Bear was there to assist in handing out gifts and
taking pictures with the kids! Just wait 'til next year...no way will I
forget my camera! |

We did attend
the Halloween party at Luther Manor Residence. And what a disappointment I
forgot my camera!! I have never seen so many adorable little Ladybugs,
Dorothy's, Panda Bears and much more! There must have been about 50+ little
children in costume. After games and entertainment, the children went on a
parade through the residence area to visit the elderly and bring smiles to
their faces!
For us, this was an
especially wonderful event, because we realize that we are getting closer to
our referral coming from the CCAA. Only 8+ weeks away! We had wonderful
conversations with a few people that just recently traveled. They were full
of great stories and advise for us and others in the waiting process. |

Unfortunately, we did not
get to go to the events in June or August! I guess our summer schedules were
busier than we thought!

We
attended the MA-FCC Spring Social at Luther Manor Residence in Milwaukee. It
was nice to meet more new families that have adopted, and some that are
waiting just like us. It is a great time to share stories and see beautiful
children! We also took advantage of their reference library and checked-out
two books that were referred to us. Adopting in China: a Practical
Guide/An Emotional Journey; Wheeler/Werner, and A Passage to the
Heart (Writings from Families with Children from China); Amy Klatzkin.
We took some pictures of some
of the cute kids this time. You can see that Kirk warmed up to a little
girl named Sarah. She was just adopted in
December. |
| "Dance Works" performed
with the Chinese Ribbon Dancers, and they taught the children how to ribbon
dance after their performance. Following the All American buffet dinner
(hotdogs, potato salad and more!) they had a citizen celebration for all the
children that became citizens on February 27th. |

We went to our first
event for the MA-FCC. It was a celebration of the Chinese New Year at the
South Park Pavilion in Milwaukee. There had to be about 100 people there.
It was a “sea” of adorable young Chinese children!! Of course the
majority were girls aged from 2-4 years old. Yet there were some boys
(also adorable!) and some older children (between 6-7 years old).
The Cricket Academy performed. That
is a new organization of young children and adults learning the Chinese
language and culture. They sang fun songs for the audience.
The Shao
Lin Boxing Methods performed a Lion dance. It was fascinating and
entertaining. That is the dance in progress that you see below. |
